Carlos Cunha (1991) is a Trumpet player living in Groningen, The Netherlands. He is the Principal Trumpet with Holland Symfonie Orkest. In the past Carlos has been appointed as principal Trumpet player with Soldaat van Oranje - The Musical, West Side Story - The Musical and with Elisabeth - The Musical. Regularly plays as a guest player with Orchestras such as Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, Residentie Orkest, Noord Netherlands Orkest, Het Balletorkest Amsterdam, PHION - Orkest van Gelderland & Overijssel, Ludwig Orchestra, London Film Music Orchestra, Sinfonia Rotterdam and Ensemble Klang with musicians such as Yannick Nézet-Séguin, Valery Gergiev, Jiří Bělohlávek, Susanna Mälkki, Anthony Hermus, Giancarlo Guerrero, Carlos Miguel Prieto, Sérgio Carolino and among others. Carlos was a scholarship holder of The Royal Conservatoire of The Hague and SEM (Stichting Eigen Muziekinstrument). He started to play the Trumpet at the age of 10 in the wind band of his home town. In 2012, after his studies in Portugal, he went to study at The Royal Conservatoire of The Hague in The Netherlands where he finished both his Bachelor and Master degree cum laude with high distinction. In 2015 was invited to play the famous second Trumpet concerto by André Jolivet with the Orchestra of The Royal Conservatoire of The Hague with a live broadcast for the Dutch Radio. His teachers were Rui Borba and Ad van Zon. Currently besides giving Masterclasses he is a Trumpet professor at The American School of The Hague and Nord Anglia International School Rotterdam.
