Growth, blossoming, decay and memories

Groei, bloei, verval en herinneringen ‘Mijn werk ontstaat vanuit de wens om het leven te ervaren als één totaalsysteem en tegelijkertijd de essentie van het moment te vatten.’ Ik ben gefascineerd door structuren en processen van groei, bloei en vergankelijkheid. Deze natuurlijke processen vergelijk ik in mijn werk met emotionele en psychologische processen. Het is een manier om de relatie tussen binnenkant en buitenkant aan de orde te stellen en te verwijzen naar het verband tussen lichaam en geest. Deze fascinatie verbeeld ik intuïtief op abstracte wijze met inzet van figuurlijke elementen. Ik werk met gemengde technieken op papier. Waarbij ik met name gebruik maak van aquarelverf, inkt, potlood en softpastel. Ook gebruik ik soms druk- en collagetechnieken. De natuurlijkheid is voor mij een grote inspiratiebron ——– Growth, blossoming, decay and memories ‘My work develops out of the desire to experience life as one total system and at the same time to grasp the essence of the very moment. I’m fascinated by the structures and processes of growth, blossoming, and transience. In my work, I compare these natural processes to emotional and psychological ones. It’s a way to address the relationship between the inside and the outside and to reference the connection between body and mind. I intuitively express this fascination in an abstract way, using figurative elements. I work with mixed media on paper, primarily using watercolor, ink, pencil, and soft pastel. I also occasionally employ printing and collage techniques. Naturalness is a great source of inspiration for me. Mieke Raatjes
